Value of Money
I delivered my Toastmaster Speech 5 Project in EDTM during November, 2015. I choose the title of my Toastmaster Speech 5 ” Value of Money”. Time allotted for the speech was 5-7 minutes. My speech was as follows.
Money……..Money……. Money….. Everyone wants money……. A child wants money…. A young man wants money….. An old man going to die wants money……. We go to school ……. We go to college…. Not for the knowledge but for the future bank balance……
Hold on….. What is this… money…. Money…. Money…. We know that money is not everything and it is only the main root cause of all evil things. We cannot buy love and happiness by money. oh … Yes I do agree that Money is not everything but, in this Kaluga, it is the most important commodity in our life. Love and happiness are priceless, these are not meant to be bought but to feel, these are the emotions which should be without any consideration. Some People believe that it is more important than fresh air, water and gravity. It’s a truth that Money has a value in everyone life to get everything.
Ladies and gentleman, today, In my Toastmaster Speech – 5, I am going to share my own personal story how I realized the value of money.
Some time back, I was doing my CS – internship in Tamilnadu. One day I was alone at my PG, so I planned for movie alone, to get hair cut and some shopping. For this I took a bus and went to a mall to withdraw some money from the ATM for all this stuff. In ATM there was a beautiful lady, I remembered that beautiful lady was standing just beside me in the bus. Travelling & standing with young and beautiful girl…. How amazing those moments are…… You can easily imagine……..
That beautiful lady was doing some transaction since last 10 minutes, It seemed that perhaps she had forgotten her ATM password, while I was waiting angrily……. and eagerly…… because of my movie time….. Suddenly she looked back……… and asked me to withdraw the money first. I said, “why what is the problem? Is the ATM machine is out of cash. She replied no, it has the money, just go ahead. Since I am quite in hurry, I immediately occupied the ATM with saying thanks to the lady.
I pulled out my wallet and I almost felt someone hit in the head from behind, when I realised My ATM is not in my wallet…….. I stood their speechless for couple of minutes. While I searched my wallet again and there was no sign of my blue color ATM card. I haven’t lost any ATM card before and this could not be possible………… Could it be stolen by my room mates, my room helper or someone by in bus. May be that beautiful lady standing beside me…… OMG….. Suddenly I looked back……… and saw that she had left already. How come a beautiful girl stole my card, if she had already stole my heart……….
I ran towards Indian bank just near the Mall and I found……. Today is Sunday bank was closed. I called customer care and got relaxed that no transactions were made and I requested to block my ATM card….. Now what to do… nothing just went to home back….. Till I reached I forget everything which I planned about movie, hair cut everything even about that girl…. and just thinking of Now I had only Rs. 100/- now how to pay my room rent, mobile bill, DTH bill .. OMG what about my hair cut. I had no money to board the Bus and auto to reach my PG. So I walked 5 km. then boarded a bus again I walked 6 km. then again boarded a sharing auto. When I reached home, I had only Rs.40/- in my pocket.
Anyhow I relaxed my mind and reached home ….. OMG……… what is this…. I was so surprised My ATM card just lying on the table. Again I was so happy and thinking of paying my dues and everything…. Immediately I went to ATM Oh ho what is this…… a msg was display in ATM Machine……. that Your ATM is already blocked. This is a big disaster! ……..
Oh my God! Is this a punishment for not going to temple for a very long time? Is it a punishment for watching some bad movies alone on Tuesday? This happened to me first time. Now I didn’t have money to recharge my dish TV, recharge my phone, now no haircut …. No chicken lollipop …….. and many more commodities which I could not afforded. I couldn’t get anything as I didn’t have money. I forgot everything and thinking of how to get money .. money … and money. Many things ran through my mind during that time. I should not be feeling this way. I was feeling like a street child, the poor squatters, the people who doesn’t. have a job.
How to treat money.
My friend, I have just shared to you an example of mine, we should value the money. But how should people treat money so as it doesn’t overwhelm his soul with too much greed and evil. One way, is to treat it something like water. Yes! Money is like water. Everyone needs it to survive. Everyone must keep it continuously flowing by helping others such as giving money to parents, sibling brother and sister, Make some Investment or anything that would transfer it to others who need it.
Dear Friends don’t save money, if you are not happy. Money is meant to be spent and not to be kept in the locker. Money is just like a dead piece of dirty paper or metal. You cannot carry it when you die, but you can bring it to the people who need it to ease their suffering.
Money has a value….. earn it respect it….. but before becoming greedy of money….. ask yourself, Is money only the reason you are born in this world. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and lose his own soul?
At last I like to say that we all worship Money as Lord Laxmi!
Thanking you, over to you Toastmaster. I hope you will like the contents of my Toastmaster Speech 5 and also learn how to treat & value money.
