I had lived most of my life in comparing myself to others. At first, it was school about the physics, communication skills and then in college & sports. But as I did my graduation and Company Secretary professional course I began comparing other metrics: job title, income level, house size, material stuff and worldly successes etc.,. But slowly I moved on and stopped this habit (” Stop Comparing yourself”) and trust me I improved a lot.
Why do we compare ourselves to others?
Since our childhood we have been taught to compare ourselves to others. We have been conditioned to compare and always compare by our parents, teacher, neighbor or relatives. Somebody else has been doing good in exam about his handwriting, somebody has a better house, somebody else has a more beautiful body, see how somebody is doing in his study, somebody else has more money and blaa blaa blaa. What happen then? At this juncture, we forget about ourselves and start to become somebody. We always start compare our worst with somebody’s best.
Comparing yourself to others will always cause us to regret what we aren’t, rather than allow us to enjoy who we are. It will always steal the joy and happiness that is within our reach. Every body seems to be so happy — except our self. We are continuously comparing and the same is the case with the others, they are comparing too. Maybe they think the grass in our lawn is greener — as it always looks greener from the distance.
Quotes on Stop comparing yourself to others

- Happiness is found when you stop comparing yourself to other people
- A flower does not think of comparing to the flower next to it, it just blooms”
- Comparison is the death of joy.
Comparison is an act of violence against the self. Have your ever thought why does the idea of the other enter in our head in the first place? The answer is because still we have not allowed our own juices to flow; we have not allowed our own blissfulness to grow, we have not allowed our own being to bloom and these all due to comparing habit.
Because of this habits we feel empty inside, and we look at everybody’s outside because only the outside can be seen and we use our time in comparing and forgetting our own blissfulness .
One thing to remember: You are just yourself, nobody has ever been like you, and nobody will ever be like you. And you need not be like anybody else, either.
