About 5000 years have passed since the Mahabharata, and India has not fought a single major war. Whereas, countries that fought great wars are at the peak of development and prosperity today. India is still a developing country because it never fought a war, and this fact shouldn’t be taken negatively.
Check out your historical knowledge.
1. Which country suffered most in first world war?
Don’t say Japan. It was Germany, which suffered most at the end of the first world war (1914 – 1918).
2. Which country emerged as more powerful country in second world war?
It was Germany under the leadership of Hitler. No one could have even thought that Germany could fight another war in future because apparently, there was no possibility for Germany to go to war for hundreds of years. But just in 20 years, the miracle happened, Germany emerged as an infinitely more powerful country in the world.
Was it mare coincident? why did this happen? – This happened due to will and active force of its people, who utilized the energies released by the First World war and Germany emerged as an infinitely more powerful country than the Germany of the First World War.
3. Which country suffered most in second world war?
Germany surrendered in 1945 but Japan was by then the only country still fighting so became the target of the atomic bombs. And it was Japan that suffered the worst destruction and defeat in the second world war.
However, again miracle took place in Japan and now who can say, after visiting today’s Japan, that only fifty years ago atom bombs fell on this country?
On other hand, of course India, it seems that this country is subject to recurring atomic bombardment. Today the western countries has achieved the same height of growth that India had achieved at the time of the Mahabharata. Almost all the highly sophisticated weapons of war that we now possess were used in the Mahabharata in some form or other.
Our lack of learning from Mahabharata is the root of all our misfortunes.
The long line of Guru were all against war, and they used the Mahabharata as anti-war position. Pointing to that great war they said, “What a terrible war! What appalling violence! First we refused to fight with outside power, then some western power attacked and occupied our country and made us into slaves, and then we were made to fight with them. Turks, Moguls and then British. It is good to avoid war, but if it becomes unavoidable it is better to accept it bravely and joyfully than to run away from it.
We Indian are still going through unending small wars/ destruction on the basis of religion, cast and color with no means at all. Some cast or regions have developed upto the standards we deem as “developed cast or region” & others are still catching. We need to have a very clear mind about the development of India as a whole rather than stick to specific.
Another point of consideration:
A war like the Mahabharata does not happen in a poor and backward society; it needs riches to wage a great war.
