Did you know that one in every five people works an additional 7-10 hours a week in unpaid overtime on top of their paid hours. Is that their dedication to their bosses or something else? Have you ever thought, what is important living the life now or the work?
Lets read a motivational story, telling us why life is so important than just your work.
Krishna, aged about 27, was a finance executive and he spent so much over time at his work, that he could hardly have a meal together with his wife and two children. He decided to study further and choose to attend coaching classes in the evening, thinking that one day this would help him to find a better paying job. He leaves the home early morning for office when his children are sleeping and returns home, when his children have gone to sleep.
Krishna’s family often complained that he is not spending enough time with them, but his only answer was, I am doing all this for you.
Soon after completing further study, he (now aged about 32) received a good offer which was significantly higher than he had before. Now Krishna could effort to provide his family with branded clothes, some luxury items. It was like a dream come true, but his family still complaining that, Krishna was not paying enough attention to his family, as he continued to work very hard and often he did not get to see his family for most of the week.
After some time Krishna’s hard work paid off, he (now aged about 40), was promoted. He decided to relieve his wife from domestic works, so he hired a maid. He also thought that their flat is not big enough for their family and they need a more big one. Thus he started more and more work, he continued his studies, so that he would be promoted again.
Krishna gave importance to his work rather than his life, so he worked so hard, that sometimes he even had to spend his Sundays with his clients instead of his wife and children. Whenever family asked for his time, his answered remained same “I am doing all this for you“
A bit later Krishna (now aged about 50) was promoted. Finally Krishna, (now aged about 55 years) bought a new big house with a beautiful view. On the first Sunday evening at their new home, Krishna told his wife and kids, that now he has decided not to take any studies and overtime work, so that he could spend more time with his beloved family. The very next morning Krishna did not wake up.
I would not be wrong, if I say we are living our life in such a way that we are preparing to get happiness for tomorrow and when tomorrow comes, we generally do not wake up.
Just one thing to remember, YOU ARE MORE THAN JUST YOUR WORK.
